Just a quick FYI. We will take down the schedule for now, as we will resolve any rankings disputes before finalising the matches.
We will post the schedule again in a day or so. |

As mentioned by the teams in question, it looks like we made a couple of minor errors in the rush to update all the stats and get next weeks schedule out. As such, the following teams should be on full points:
- The Fourth District - The Wrong Alliance
The teams rankings will be updated accordingly later today, once we double check the whole lot. This will cause a few of the matchups to change slightly from the schedule that was originally posted last night, which will also be placed back online later today.
If you are in an alliance other than the two mentioned above, and you think you have the incorrect number of points - please speak up now! -- |

Btw, I suggest you CCP next time to clarify how points should be calculated through examples as this time was a little bit confusing - or simply I don't have the brain to see clearly.
Total points are calculated by:
Unused points of opponent + Ships killed
If you win, you get an extra 25%

Originally by: sliver 0xD is there any news on who will go vs who next week ?
will the points now have any effect on that list? or will it be completly random ?
The rankings have a direct effect on that list. We aim to have the match listings for next week back online tonight or early tomorrow.
The match ups will be in order of rank, so 1v2, 3v4, 5v6, 7v8 ... 63 v 64. If the ranks change, the matchups change (only slightly at this stage).

The order of the ranking system is rather arbitrary following Round 1 - once you group winners with winners and losers with losers, so the ranks looking like this is entirely to expect. In the end it doesn't make a difference how you sort the list at this stage.
If you switched it so that the 125 - 0 winners were #1, and the 125 - 80 winners were #10, you would still see them fighting the same people. The order would be the same, simply reversed. |

Hey all - the match schedule and corrected rankings are now online.
Just to explain the ordering of the matches - the earlier blocks of 1500 - 1720 are being used to have the losing team v losing team matches, and the 1820 - 2040 blocks are being used for the winner v winner matches.

Originally by: Shamis Orzoz I guess we should've left a few of our opponents alive so we could fight against a ****ty team this weekend. Terrible matchup system CCP. Just terrible.
There is nothing stopping anyone trying to play the system to get an easier game in this way, but if you were to do it, there's also nothing stopping others - at which point you would be in the same position as you are now. This is the whole point of the matchup system being used - make similarly ranked teams fight each other.
If we were to make winners fight losers at this point, it may as well be a single elimination event. Random matchups for a second time in a row could be used, but that is... well... random.
Either way at this point - if you win both matches, you are guaranteed a spot in the finals. If you lose a match then your score in the match you lose is what really counts - and obviously a higher score is better.
I am expecting to see the following happen in Round 2: - The real top-level teams (the guys that are most likely to win overall) will win both matches, or at least go down guns blazing vs another top team. - The teams of medium ability that won (or got lucky in the draw) in the first round will find themselves facing another winning team, thus making the match that much harder. - The teams of above average ability that lost (or got unlucky in the draw) in the first round will have the chance to redeem themselves with a solid win. - The teams of little or no ability will get annihilated for the second time in a row.
This will give us with a good indication of the 32 best teams in the competition, and most definitely an indication of the top 16. A true swiss system competition will keep iterating like this until only 1 winner remains, however we depart the swiss system and go to single elimination for the finals.
The single elimination will be seeded as a standard "top seed fights bottom seed" - with #1 fighting #32, #2 fighting #31 etc.
Its harsh, and I'm sure there will be people around the 32/33 rank mark after qualifying is over that feel like they have a pretty raw deal, but with the number of teams and days of competitions this is one of the best ways to get a result.
